Like the moon and other cycles of nature, women’s monthly rhythm is an invitation to balance our outer life of busy activity with an inner life of contemplation and renewal.
In many cultures, women’s cyclic nature has been regarded as a source of great wisdom. Respect for this aspect of being female is important for our physical as well as our emotional health. The disregard most of us have felt for our periods and other monthly changes, from a young age, is at the root of much of our discomfort.
When we learn to listen to our inner messages, we will not expect ourselves to act and feel the same all month long. Instead, we are able to catch up with ourselves and anticipate our own needs, for the best use of our time and energy.
As you become more aware of the power of your female nature, the gifts of the cycle will reveal themselves to you. It can be a wonderful process of self-discovery to learn to move within your own natural rhythms. You may feel, for the first time, what it is to accept your female body as a friend and appreciate its wisdom.
